Launching your site and pointing DNS

Launch day is when your new site moves from a preview URL (something like preview.solagon.com/yourbrand) to your real domain. Here's what happens and what we need from you.

A few days before launch

We'll do a final review together — content, copy, integrations, analytics tracking, and any third-party tools (Stripe, Calendly, your CRM, etc.). This is your last chance to flag anything that needs to change before going live.

You'll also get an email from us asking for DNS access to your domain. We need either:

  • Login credentials to your DNS provider (we recommend creating a temporary user we can use, then disabling it after launch), or
  • The ability to send you the DNS records and have someone on your team enter them

Most clients use option 2 — it's faster and you keep full control.

The records we'll need to add

Depending on your hosting setup, you'll add either an A record OR a CNAME record:

Record type Name Value
A record @ (root) 76.76.21.21
CNAME www cname.vercel-dns.com

Plus a CNAME for any subdomain we're using:

Record type Name Value
CNAME shop, app, etc. cname.vercel-dns.com

We'll send you the exact records for your specific setup.

Email — important

If your domain is currently used for email (anyone@yourbrand.com), we will not touch your MX records. Your email keeps working through whatever provider you're already using. Just make sure your MX records are still in place after the DNS changes — we'll double-check this on the launch call.

How long does DNS take to propagate?

Usually 15 minutes to 2 hours, occasionally up to 24 hours in unusual cases. We'll wait until propagation is complete and run final QA before considering the launch done.

Something looks wrong after launch

Submit a ticket with priority set to Urgent if it's anything that affects your live site — broken pages, forms not submitting, payments not working. We monitor those and respond fastest.
